How it works

  1. On the Reel, tap the paper plane and choose Copy link
  2. Paste it above in Safari and tap Download
  3. In Files → Downloads, tap Share → Save Video to add it to Photos

Why not just use Instagram’s own download?

Instagram only offers its download option on some Reels, and when it does, the saved file carries an Instagram watermark with the creator’s handle. For your own Reels, the original upload may also be long gone from your camera roll.

ClipSaverHD fetches the Reel at the resolution Instagram stores it and gives you a plain MP4. Safari puts it in the Files app, and one Share → Save Video tap moves it into Photos, ready to repost or edit.

It is also handy for Reels you posted yourself and no longer have. Creators often edit in one app, post, clear their camera roll, and then want the video back months later for a compilation, a portfolio or another platform.

Frequently asked questions

Where does the Reel end up on my iPhone?

First in the Files app under Downloads. Use Share → Save Video to copy it into the Photos app.

Can I save Reels from private accounts?

No. Only public Reels can be saved. Private posts are only visible to approved followers.

Does the saved Reel keep its sound?

Yes. The MP4 includes the audio exactly as it plays on Instagram.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes. The steps are the same in Safari on iPad, and the video lands in Files → Downloads.

Is it better than screen recording a Reel?

Yes. A screen recording catches the Instagram buttons, captions and notifications and lowers the quality. The download is the clean original.

Will the creator know I saved their Reel?

No. Saving a public Reel doesn’t notify the creator, but please only reuse content you have permission to use.
